Practice Mode privacy policy

Last updated 8 September 2026.

Practice Mode is a Drivegenics product for learner drivers and the family member or friend supervising their private practice. This policy explains how the app and website handle personal information. Questions and rights requests can be sent to privacy@practicemode.co.uk.

Information the app uses

We process the name, email address, account role, Firebase account identifier, household membership and invite status needed to create and secure an account. When a drive is saved, we process its date and time, duration, optional approximate mileage, selected objective, conditions and road types, the two ratings, optional notes, agreed next step, and the named supervisor. We also keep the household entitlement and limited Apple transaction identifiers needed to verify or restore a purchase.

Firebase Authentication and App Check may process technical security information such as sign-in timestamps, IP addresses and device or app-attestation signals. If you contact us, we process your message and contact details so we can respond.

What we deliberately do not collect

The app does not request your location, record routes or speed, show advertising, use an advertising identifier, or include behavioural analytics. Do not include sensitive or unnecessary personal information in free-text drive notes.

Bookmarks and the objectives marked “Ask my ADI” are kept locally for the signed-in user on that iPhone. They are included in a summary only when the user deliberately opens the iPhone share sheet and chooses where to send it. Practice Mode does not automatically contact an instructor.

How information is used

Information is used to provide and secure the account and household service, synchronise completed drive reviews, show progress, verify purchases, answer support requests, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Household sharing

Current members of a household can see the household's completed drive reviews, including both ratings and notes. During the one-phone debrief, each rating is hidden until both people have finished. A learner can leave a household at any time; this stops future access, but reviews already shared with the household may remain available to its other members.

Service providers

Google Firebase provides authentication, database, server functions, app attestation and website hosting. Apple provides App Store purchase processing. Our email provider processes support and privacy correspondence. These providers process information under their own security, retention and international-transfer arrangements.

Retention and deletion

Account and practice information is kept while the account or household needs the service. You can export the data held on your phone from Settings and request permanent account deletion inside the app. Deleting an account removes its profile and authentication record; completed reviews shared with remaining household members may be retained as their practice record. Limited security logs, transaction evidence and backups may remain for the period reasonably required for security, accounting, dispute handling or legal compliance.

Learners under 18

Practice Mode is designed to be used with an eligible supervising driver. We do not ask for a date of birth and do not use children's information for advertising or profiling. A learner or their parent or guardian can contact us with a privacy concern.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing, and to receive a portable copy. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office. Contact privacy@practicemode.co.uk first if you would like us to help.
